We Going To The Top!
2025
Acrylic paint and digital giclée print on archival mat board
Three panels, each 19 ¾ × 27 ½ in (50.2 × 69.9 cm)
“We Going To The Top!” is a minimalist meditation on self-actualization, reframing Maslow’s hierarchy of needs through personal experience and cultural specificity. The work takes the form of a vertical triptych: three panels in gradient pink fields, each featuring a hand-painted black shape — a circle, a square, and a triangle — rendered with intentional imperfection.
Each form corresponds to a layer of the hierarchy: the circle representing physiological needs; the square encompassing safety, love, belonging, and esteem; and the triangle marking the apex, self-actualization.
More than a diagram of growth, the piece asserts self-actualization as a right, not a reward.
